Friends of the aged poet have celebrated the golden jubilee of his literary activity in an appropriate manner. Mr. Zunser is still hale and hearty, and is still imbued with the same poetic fire that produced, in Russia, the sweet melodies mothers sing at the cradles of their children. Mr. Zunser has

kept alive Jewish sentiment and has strengthened Jewish solidarity. While not a poet of the first class, he has given voice to the popular feeling, and it is eminently fitting that in his old age the Jewish people take cognizance of his patriotic services.
