Mr. Fromenson presented report for the Propaganda and Organization Committee.
The Executive Committee approved the efforts of the Propaganda Committee to obtain the services of a suitable Yiddish agitator.
The suggestion of the Propaganda and Organization Committee for the calling of a general convention of the presidents and vice-presidents of the New York congregations during the winter, was approved, and referred back with the request that the plan be submitted to the Executive Committee with full details.
Mr. Abel, as Chairman of the Yiddish Publication Committee, presented a report, which is herewith appended. Report of Committee was accepted, and the Chairman was authorized to publish Yiddish report of the proceedings of the Congress in pamphlet form immediately after the Congress, such report not to cost more than $50.
It was the sense of the meeting that no disposition be made, for the present, of the funds collected at the Convention.
The appointment of a committee to take charge of the arrangements for the Shekel Collection was authorized.
Motion was made and carried that the Secretary communicate with the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Rabbis, requesting them to make a public appeal to the Jews of this country, through the Yiddish press, for the purchase of Ethrogim grown in Palestine,
REFORT OF THE YIDDISH PUBLICATION COMMITTEE.
The Yiddish Publication Committee has met four times since the last Convention. The attendance was as follows: Mr. Abel, 4 t'mes; Dr. Epstein, 3 times; Mr. Maltin, 2 times (left for The Hague after the third meeting) ; Dr. Wortsmann, 1 time (left the city afıer the first meeting) ; Mr. Chasan, by invitation, 2 times.
The Committee has issued Circular Letter No. 4 in Yiddish (3,500 copies), urging the societies to comply with the resolution of the last Convention, requiring each to subscribe for at least 5 shares of Yiddish Publication
stock, at $5 each, and suggesting to them various ways for the raising of money for the Publication Fund. An English translation of. this circular has appeared in the August MACCABAEAN. We had also printed 10,000 subscription blanks. The circular and the subscription blanks have recently been forwarded to the councils and societies through the Federation office. The committee has also ordered the printing of 2,000 copies of a letter in English, written by Mr. Lipsky, appealing to individual Zionists for subscriptions to the fund. This letter will be mailed to individual Zion- ıste and symnathizers all over the cauntrv
The Committee has decided that the name of the corporation, to be formed in accordance with the resolution of the last Convention, shall be "Zion Press Association." Steps were taken to apply for a charter in the near future.
The following new subscriptions were received: New York, S. Druckerman, $5.00; Ph. Turberg, $10.00; S. Abel, $10.00; M. A. Brodsky, $5.00; Dr. H. Epstein, $5.00; I. Maltin. $5.00: N. Chasan, $5.00.
The Committee has decided to co-opt Mr. Nathan Chasan and Mr. Jacob Massel, of New York, as members of the Yiddish Publication Committee.
