Mr. Goldman's Circular Letter
Some weeks ago we received the following letter from Mr. Goldman, of St. Louis, accompanied by a pamphlet entitled, "A Million Dollars for Immediate Work in Palestine." We give it exactly as we received it, in order to throw light on a controversy which has arisen between Mr. Goldman and the executive of the Federation.
Let Us Get A Million Dollars for Zionism!
I hand you herewith several copies of a booklet entitled "A Million Dollars for Immediate Work in Palestine," wherein it is shown how to convert our Zionistic ideals into pleasant realities by the creation of an organization for the systematic purchase and development of land as well as the gradual settlement of some of our brethren in Palestine.
That this scheme is not a dream has well been demonstrated in the city of St. Louis, where one "Hoachoozo" is firmly established and its shares are selling at every meeting. You can be just as successful in your city; it needs but the earnest work of yourself and a few other true and capable Zionists who shall determine to establish such a company and you will surely succeed. Is the work worth doing? Yes! The possibilities of such an organization are simply vast. It does not mean only one million dollars but twenty or thirty millions for immediate Palestinian work, for every settler will bring with him from five hundred to ten thousand dollars in ready cash. I know personally of five intending settlers who will have between them from forty to fifty thousand dollars.
The Haolom, the official Zionistic organ is giving information time and again how to settle in Palestine and the tone throughout its editorials is an earnest appeal for the Jewish people to come and take possession of the land which Young Turkey has thrown open to us. We are bound to succeed because our people are
eager for practical work in our Holy Land and therefore such companies when once started will become very popular
Now I ask you personally to help in this noble work! and your next step is this:
Get together all the active Zionists in your city and acquaint them with the contents of the booklet enclosed herewith. Form yourselves into an organizing committee and decide when you are to call either a mass meeting or a meeting of all Zionists for the purpose of establishing a company in your city. You will notice on pages 6 and 7 there is a call printed for a meeting and you need but fill in time and place, and this little book can serve the double purpose of propaganda and circulars to summon the mass meeting. Let me know how many copies you will need for the above purpose and I will mail them to you free of charge. Do this right now! Don't lose any valuable time and your efforts will be crowned with success. I am willing and ready to give any further information upon request.

S.—I again wish to emphasize the importance of your calling a preliminary meeting of the best Zionists in your city at once to arrange for a large mass meeting to be held in your city about a month from now. Then let me know immediately about how many booklets you will be able to distribute between now and the time of the big mass meeting and I will send them to you at once, prepaid, and I will then also write you the complete details of organization.
