President Clarence de Sola stated that it was well known that he had desired to retire from the Presidency, as he had been ten years in office and he thought that it was time for somebody else to assume the burden. However, everybody had been so insistent that he should retain office that he had been persuaded to do so because of the pledge that had been given by the members of the new bureau committee to relieve him entirely of all bureau and all detail work so that his principal cause for wishing to retire had disappeared. He felt positive that a new era had now set in with such excellent executive arrangements as had now been made.
Palestine Land and Development Company
The Federation of American Zionists, 200 East Broadway, received a consignment of shares of stock of the Palestine Land Development Company, for which the Federation has been authorized to act as an American agent of the Company. The officers of the Federation now intend to make a special effort to sell the stock of this Company, which has been organized abroad with excellent backing and which has the worthy object of purchasing land for Jewish purposes in Palestine. The directors of the Palestine Land Development Co., are as follows: Otto Warburg, Berlin; Bertrand Hamburg, Charlottenburg; Hans Gideon Heymann, Berlin; Leopold Kessler, London; Charles Weizmann, Manchester. The price of a bearer share is $5.23 and registered share is $4.83.
RESOLUTIONS.
The Executive Committee of the Federation of American Zionists, at its regular meeting on Sunday night, November 7, 1909, resolved unanimously to place itself on record as regretting the necessity that compelled the retirement of Miss LOTTIE LEVENSOHN from active work in the office of the Federation. The Executive Committee, as a whole, and the members individually, desire herewith to give expression to their deep appreciation of Miss Levensohn's devotion to Zionism, her untiring efforts on behalf of our organization, and of her unfailing courtesy; and it was the desire of the Executive Committee that this expression of its sentiments be transmitted to Miss Levensohn and be spread upon the minutes of the Executive Committee and published in our official organs.
