Not in vain have they taken note of utterly needless poverty and ignorance and disease existing side by side with the greatest accumulations of wealth the world has ever known. Not in vain that they watched the forces growing in Europe that threaten to destroy civilization unless society shall be radically reconstructed. Not in vain have they heard President Wilson's call for a new politics of realistic thinking and sincere action.

Theirs is the opportunity, at this most critical time in the life of human society, to blaze the path toward a better social order for the whole world, by co-operating with their own wisest and most experienced social engineers in the establishment of a community that will exemplify the

new political and economic principles on which men's minds are beginning to unite wherever they are taking thought together how to find a way out from the evils that oppress them.

THE NEW WORLD SIGNIFICANCE OF ZIONISM

After the Pittsburgh Convention we can truly say that participation in the Zionist movement, means far more than a contribution toward the progress of the Jewish race. It means participation in a task of social pioneering, conducted in such spirit and under such leadership as promises to make of Palestine once more a land to which men's eyes everywhere will turn as to a source of inspiration and guidance in the attainment of the best for all the human race.
